Kids are also on holidays and all received their last results at school.

～ ストリートチルドレンから自立したＴｉ君 ～

今回の滞在中、縁がありＡＲＢＡという日本の団体さんから私のありのままの活動をツアーに組み込ませて欲しいと声を掛けていただきました。2日間約30名の主に学生さん達と時間を共有しました。初日は私が活動当初にストリートチルドレン保護施設で出会ったＴｉ君が働いている店で、自身の活動やベトナムの現状を話しました。路上で暮らし、施設に入り、公安に捕まり、低賃金の仕事をし、読み書きは出来ず、でも今を一生懸命生きている本人を観て、忘れていたことに気付いて欲しいと想ったのです。彼が好きな大きな古時計をお礼に皆で歌うと、とても恥ずかしそうに、でも誇らしそうでした。学生さんから「今一番大切なものは？」との質問に、「お父さん、お母さん」と返ってきた時、全員の心が動かされました。翌日は、私がよく行う路上調査を各自で行い、その後に元ストリートチルドレンが働いているフーンライで感じたことシェアしました。夢を諦めずに自分らしく生きる大切さを皆さんに伝え、共に過ごせた時間は貴重でした。（：

ベトナムのＨＩＶ／ＡＩＤＳ事情

４年前からＨＩＶ/ＡＩＤＳが原因で苦しい生活を強いられている仲間達と関わり始め、彼らが日頃どこで暮らし、どんな薬を飲み、どうゆう悩みを抱えているのか実際に住居を訪れ、彼らと対面し学んできました。ベトナムは３０万人を超すＨＩＶ感染者を抱え、１５分に１人が新たに感染しています！しかし正しい知識が無い人が多いため、ヘロイン注射の回し打ち、売春、母子感染などで犠牲者が後を絶ちません。知らない間に感染する旅行者や裕福層者も増えています。この地で住む上では避けては通れない現実です。差別意識を持つのでは無く、苦しんでいる仲間たちには手をさし伸べましょう。
ＡＩＤＳ孤児や犠牲になった仲間を学費、薬代、自立支援などでサポートしています。

Furoshiki project !!
私は今、社会から隅に追いやられている人達に端切れを縫い合わせて風呂敷を手縫いで作成する仕事で、自立支援を目指しています。この時代だからこそ心を込め、時間を掛けることの大切さをもう一度見直して頂ければと。そんな想いから、ロゴにかたつむりを選びました。（写真右）「善きことはカタツムリの速度で動く」マハトマ・ガンジー。商品としてよりも、世界に一つの“作品”として仕上げることを重視しています。端切れを生かす縫い合わせ方、おしゃれなデザイン・パンフレットなどを仲間と何度も話し合いを重ね進めています。風呂場で着替えを包んだのが名前の由来で、昔は布団の下に敷いておき、災難時には必需品を入れ逃げたそうです。日本人の知恵は素晴らしい！大きさに合わせてエコバッグ、赤ちゃん、犬、ヨガマットキャリアーバンダナ、テーブルクロス、ランチョンマット、またお部屋のインテリアとしての飾りなどとして、多彩な使用方法があります。プロジェクトについての問い合わせ、風呂敷の注文、お待ちしています。

ニュースレター Vo.２

ベトナムでは旧正月が明け、新たな年が始まりましたね。年頭に日本に帰国し、その間日本でしか出来ないことを体験出来たことは大きな収穫でした。ベトナムで観た路上児童労働やHIV/AIDSの現実、心で感じたことを中学校、NPO主催の祭り（一万人元気フェスタ）、国際交流などの講演会、新聞やラジオなどで伝えました。活動中の風呂敷計画に対しては多くの方々が賛同してくださり計画を進行する勇気をもらいました。私が日本にいたときに関わっていた、虐待や育児放棄が主な原因で親とは暮らせない子供たちがいる児童養護施設の子供たちに会いに行きました。戦後虚弱児を保護する施設の延長で使われていた住宅地の中にある施設を最新設備で整った施設に改め、海と山から近いとても環境の善いところに移築しました。今までは校舎が二階に、一階には１部屋に約８人の共同部屋があり、２歳から１８歳までの男女約６０人が隔離されたように暮らしていました。新しい場所はプライベートな空間や自然に触れる機会があるので、後は関わっていく大人たち次第だと感じました。腕いっぱいのリストカットや交換日記２ページに「死にたい」のメッセージ、脱走し暴れる姿などを観て、深刻な彼らの心の傷と自分の無力さに胸を痛めたこともありました。ベトナムの施設のように社会に開かれておらず、外部から遮断されている彼らは１８歳になり施設を出なければいけなくなった時に行き場がありません。社会とコミュニケーションする方法を知らず、手に技術が無く、施設育ちの彼らを受け入れる先はほとんどありません。施設に入っている子達だけではなく、日本には虐待や育児放棄で犠牲になる子で溢れています。ヨガ指導をしていることがきっかけで心に深い傷を負い、人生に行き詰った大人達とも沢山出会い、日本の深刻な現実問題を痛感しています。去年、ベトナムに活動拠点を移そうと決意しましたが、現地の人で行動し、多くの人が本能で日々生きている姿を観て、「日本人に生まれたことには深い意味がある。同じ日本の人々を救いたい！大好きな日本の伝統や国の美しさを失いたくは無い！」との気持ちが強くなってきたのです。

Furoshiki (Cloth wrapper) project!!

“Why don’t they use the skills to sew and embroidery, yet they go on the street to sell lottery?” I thought when I visited a shelter, which providing vocational training to girls. I don’t agree with children working on the street that is dangerous and hopeless to the future. Nor do want them to make ornaments which are useless in our daily lives. Eco and fair-trade will be a big key all over the world…. “Furoshiki project!” came up in my mind! The concept is: 1. Correct left over fabrics=No cost and recycle 2.Sew the fabrics together as Furoshiki=Reuseful 3. Consume Furoshiki= Salary for workers
I chose a snail as its logo from Gandhi’s quote” Better results come as you remain snail’s pace” I want people in the fast-past society to focus on the only one work in the world instead of a product and remember what the true meaning of our life is.

～A successful story from a street child ～

Early this year, there was a call from Japanese NGO, providing study tour in Vietnam and Cambodia, that they wanted me to lead their free day in Ho Chi Minh city. If I just tell about what I can get the information from the internet or books, or bring participants to shelters as local tour, someone can do. Thus, I organized to visit a restaurant that Ti works. From my experience, it is big difference to see real visions of street children and poverty from just imagination. Ti used to live on the street, in a shelter for street-boys, in the area as similar as a jail where homeless people are arrested. He cannot write nor read as having never been to school. My Vietnamese friend (Phuong) and I have seen him for 8 years and knew he has a pure and warm hearted, proudly; he always tries so hard to find a job and work even though his life challengings are not easy. Now he works at the restaurant from 7 am till midnight. While we were eating he was working so hard as everyday. After finishing the dinner, we sang his favorite song”Ookina-furudokei” that he always remembers and asks me to sing. At the end I gave a chance for Japanese students to ask questions to Ti, one of them asked,” What is the most important for you?” ” My mother and father.” he replied. His answer fulfilled everyone’s inner souls. I was glad to share what I have done as whom I am and what is the reality in the same planet. I hope it was a chance for them to look back their way of living and thinking to next step.
